Scuba Diving
There are just few places in the world where divers enjoy so many species of marine life, from the tiny tube blennies to the giant manta rays. The abundance of life, especially with rays, means that in the colder thermo-climes the southern rays litter the bottom like a vista of road bumps, while overhead large shoals of eagle rays, cow nose rays and at times migrating shoals of hundreds (and maybe thousands) of cow nose rays or hammerhead sharks can stop you in your path with your mouth open (and regulator still in!) in amazement. The experience of circling manta rays cruising by like graceful stealth bombers will stay with you forever. For those that love the little critters, there are seahorses aplenty, frog fish (for the keen eye), harlequin shrimps, nudibranch and many small wonders of undersea life to really make that macro shot worthwhile.
If you want good diving, wonderful sights and sometimes very varied conditions – even on the one dive! Then this diving is exciting and awe inspiring.
Surfing
You will be picked up for lessons and taken to the beautiful beach of Playa Grande. An ideal beach for beginners and advanced surfers. It is clean and unpopulated, so plenty of room to try surfing without worrying about running anybody over. Never surfed before? No problem! Matt your instructor is from New Zealand and has the patience of a saint. From learning how to stand on the board, surf etiquette, positioning, paddling and catching waves you will find by the end of the lesson that standing up on a board and riding it into the surf gives you the adrenaline rush to confirm you as a real surf junky!
Turtle Watching
Everyone ought to see a turtle nesting. It is an impressive thing to see, the pilgrimage of a sea creature back to the land its ancestors left a hundred million years ago. The nesting rites begin, for the watcher, at least, when the turtle strands in the surf. That part is hard to watch, those minutes when she comes up with the breakers and stays there for a while, rising with a wave then bumping back softly on the sand, making up her mind. She blinks and peers, turns her nose down and presses it onto the wave-washed bottom, then looks up and all around and blinks some more. She is clearly making a decision. What her criteria are, nobody knows. The turtle is wild and skittish when she first touches shore, and even the light of a match struck far up the beach may send her back to the sea.
